They are … Read more This is a pair of whimsical mid century majolica elephant obelisks produced for it Italy for Meiselman Imports. They are fabulously tall "focal point" decorative decanters that are ready to be made into lamps if you choose (as they have a hole on bottom and the decanter lid is removable). These are in an olive green, warm orange and creamy white terra cotta pottery hand painted in Italy. The elephants are finely molded with amazing details and it has a tapering column with a removable stopper. These pieces are Circa 60's-70's. They stand approximately 25" inches high, 9" inches wide and 5.5 " deep.

Meiselman was a Mid-Century New York based import company. They had a great deal of important ceramics pieces made under their name. They used several artists with varying styles, but this artist (see signature) made a line of Elephants, Wild Cats (see one in my current inventory) and other Chinoiserie that trumped all, uniquely fabulous!
