This item is a Japanese Export Satsuma earthenware vase, heavily decorated with gilt and raised enamel detailing (moriage technique). The specific figures depicted around the body are Arhats (also known as Rakan), who are the enlightened holy disciples of the historical Buddha. It is characterized by its distinctive gold-colored, crackled background glaze under dense. Features heavy gilding and tube-lined or piped raised enamel styling, often called moriage. The "Immortals" or "Arhats" motif was highly popular for Western collectors during the late Meiji period (1868–1912) and through the Taisho / early Showa periods (1910s–1950s).
This vase is overall in the very good antique condition, no damages.
