This 1960s pair of Young Manufacturing nightstands shows the maker's sculptural approach to American mid century modern design. Each walnut case wears a single door faced with a long, carved vertical pull that rises like a ribbon against the grain, and the cabinets sit on gently splayed legs joined by a shaped, curving apron that gives the pair its light, lifted stance. Softly rounded case edges and warm book matched walnut complete the sculptural effect.
Behind each door is a roomy open cabinet, a practical spot for books, chargers, and bedside essentials that stay hidden when the door swings shut. The compact footprint works on either side of a bed, and the pair reads equally well as end tables flanking a sofa.
