A magnificent vintage Peruvian mirror featuring a hand-carved gilt wood frame inset with individually hand-painted reverse-painted (églomisé) glass panels in a rich oxblood red. The floral and foliate decoration reflects the influence of Spanish Colonial and Baroque design traditions for which Peruvian decorative arts are renowned.
The deeply carved gilt molding beautifully frames the central mirror, while the brilliant red glass and intricate hand-painted details create a dramatic statement. An exceptional decorative piece for an entry hall, dining room, living room, powder room, or above a fireplace.
