This antique tea caddy is in remarkable condition for its age. The decoration is finely executed with detailed gilt chinoiserie scenes wrapping all four sides and the lid. It retains its original removable lids and key.

- Very good antique condition. The caddy is structurally sound. The papier mache is in remarkably good condition for the age … moreVery good antique condition. The caddy is structurally sound. The papier mache is in remarkably good condition for the age of the piece. The hand painted decoration remains crisp. Hinges appear to be original and in fine working order. No significant structural damage. Expected age-related surface rubbing. One of the figure's face has an imperfection (see last photo). Minor edge wear. Interior tinned metal liners show normal oxidation, wear and loss. Small scattered losses to lacquer consistent with age. The colors are strong. The interior lids are present. The key may not be original as it does not lock the box but fits comfortably within the lock. I am happy to answer any questions you may have prior to purchase or to send more photos if needed. less
