Entirely hand-carved from solid wood, the frame is richly ornamented with elegant ribbon-and-bow motifs inspired by the Louis XVI tradition. The original gilded surface has developed a beautiful aged patina, with areas of warm red bole emerging beneath the gold. This traditional bole layer was applied before gilding to enrich the luminosity of the gold leaf and remains one of the hallmarks of fine European craftsmanship.

The original back construction further supports its authenticity and reflects traditional Florentine workshop methods.
