A pair of Mid-Century Modern basket chairs, a classic piece of Italian modern design. The hemispherical or inverted cone-shaped shell is crafted from a dense and elegant weave of wicker, rush, and cane, supported along the outer perimeter by a sturdy, curved bamboo hoop. The seat rests on slender, black-lacquered tubular metal legs, typical of furniture design from the 1950s and 1960s. These models were produced primarily in Italy between 1950 and 1960, often drawing inspiration from the celebrated organic lines of historic designers of the era such as Franco Albini, Franco Campo, and Carlo Graffi. This type of vintage seating is now highly sought-after by collectors for furnishing boho-chic interiors.
