The set includes a … Read more This antique Vienna Secession three piece bentwood salon set was likely made in Austria circa 1905. The set includes a loveseat bench and two matching armchairs, each featuring a curved crest rail, sweeping bentwood arms, vertical rod supports with turned ball details, curved sled bases, and an original black painted finish. The upholstered seat and back panels appear to be an older replacement, likely redone mid-century, having a vintage appearance and tastefully period appropriate.

The design of this suite closely reflects the geometric forms associated with Josef Hoffmann and the Vienna Secession movement. While the set has not been conclusively identified, it bears strong similarities to seating produced by Jacob & Josef Kohn during the early twentieth century, and comparable examples have been attributed to Hoffmann. With its clean architectural lines and distinctive bentwood construction, this unique salon set is well suited to a variety of interiors, from Arts & Crafts and Art Deco to Scandinavian and contemporary spaces.

CONDITION
Good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. Wear, scuffs, and losses to the original black painted finish scattered throughout, but with natural antique character. The crest rail of the loveseat shows minor natural separation lengthwise along the glue joint as per photos.
