Claude Schurr was a prominent figure in the post-war French art scene. He studied at the prestigious National School of Fine Arts in Paris (1938–1942) and went on to become a professor at the Académie Julian (1952) and the National School of Applied Arts and Crafts (1956). In 1969, he co-founded the Academy of Port Royal.

Schurr’s signature style is a beautiful, harmonious synthesis between Cubism and Impressionism, striking a perfect balance between abstraction and figuration. His works are highly regarded for their geometric structure and brilliant use of color.
