The title is … Read more Excellent painted 4-panel byobu (folding screen) by a Japanese artist Sekko. Signed and sealed by the artist. The title is "Wave and White Herons". The artist's signature reads "Sekko" (雪香). The elegant appearance of a white heron flying in the sky is considered a symbol of elegance, innocence, and longevity. Gouache, watercolor and ink on gold-leaf style foil plates over paper. Lacquered black wood frame with beautifully engraved copper corners, plaques and medallions. Paper on back. Comes in a carboard storage case. Newly made eight black metal hooks for easy installation are included. This screen was created between 2000 and 2010 in Kyoto, Japan, Heisei Era. Excellent condition - no damage to the painting nor back, minimal age wear overall on the surface, some age wear on the lower edge of then frame, strong hinges, clean, sturdy. This byobu was kept in Kyoto Art Center for preserving design patterns.
