This lovely Kronheim and Oldenbusch (K&O) brass inkwell is the height of Art Nouveau beauty, with an inner green ink cup.
Kronheim and Oldenbusch (commonly known as K&O) was a prominent New York-based manufacturer of decorative metal novelties, best known for their cast-metal Art Deco and Art Nouveau bookends.
Operating from 1895 to 1939, the company was founded by Joseph Kronheimer and Ernest Oldenbusch, who formally incorporated their business in Brooklyn, New York, in 1899. They specialized in hollowware, inkwells, desk sets, and figurines made from spelter (a zinc alloy) and bronze.
The Master Craftsmen both had extensive backgrounds in the metal goods industry before forming their partnership. Their factory employed old-world metalworking skills to create highly detailed pieces.
