Carved and gilded wood mirror, Italy, late 19th century, featuring a molded frame with a cord carving enclosing a mercury mirror. The outer frame is openwork and richly carved, featuring a sophisticated set of architectural elements that harmoniously overlap with leafy, floral, and scroll motifs, typical of the Rocaille movement. The cymatium, which dominates the composition, houses an additional central mirror, lending the entire structure an added dimension of depth and reflection. This mirror represents a refined example of Italian craftsmanship of the period, skillfully combining functionality and decorative aesthetics. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
