Impressive vintage Japanese 4-panel painted Byobu (folding screen) in Yamato-e Style "Dancing Kimono Beauties". Gold pigment, gouache, watercolor and ink on paper. Silk brocade border. Lacquered persimmon red wood frame with engraved copper corners, plaques and medallions showing some age patina. Paper and original label on back. Japan, Shōwa era, circa 1960-1970s. This byobu was made probably for the European market. Nearly Excellent condition - minor age wear overall, scratches and small chips on the frame, one very small dent on paper back; strong hinges, clean, sturdy.
