An exceptional and remarkably heavy pair of authentic 19th-century Chinese Export Solid Silver goblets dating from the late Qing Dynasty period (circa 1860–1880). These magnificent ceremonial vessels represent the absolute pinnacle of Chinese silversmithing artistry tailored for the Western luxury trade market.
Each goblet is masterfully hand-executed with dense, high-relief repoussé and chased decorations. The decorative program features a multi-dimensional, continuous field of traditional scrolling foliage, plum blossoms, and chrysanthemums set against a finely stippled ground. The flared pedestal bases are similarly embellished with matching chased borders, rising to a gracefully ringed architectural stem.
A significant luxury feature of this pair is the original gold wash (vermeil) interior lining, designed historically to safeguard the solid silver against the acidity of wine while providing a striking color contrast against the dark antique patina of the exterior silver.
Authenticity and Purity Guaranteed:
The underside of each goblet's foot rim bears authentic hand-struck hallmarks verifying its antiquity and material integrity. This includes an individual artisan workshop chopmark alongside the paramount 足銀 (Zu Yin) mark. This purity stamp (where the character "足" visually reads like a stylized "3" and "銀" reads phonetically as "in") translates directly to "Solid/Pure Silver," confirming that these are solid precious metal masterpieces and absolutely not silver-plated.
Weighing a massive 465 grams per goblet (a combined total weight of approximately 930 grams), these heirloom-quality treasures possess a marvelous, luxurious weight in the hand. An incredibly rare find as a perfectly matched, undamaged antique pair.
