Here is a very special antique Victorian pedestal table, dating to around 1900. The ornate metal frame features four gracefully curved supports with intricately cast dragon heads and decorative detailing along their elongated bodies. The slender legs terminate in outward-curving feet, creating an elegant, sculptural silhouette.
The square tabletop features an elaborate openwork border of scrolling foliage and floral motifs surrounding an inset mirror. The table may have originally supported an onyx or other stone top, as was common with Victorian pedestal stands of this style, but I do think the mirror coordinates quite nicely with the gold and silver. A matching decorative shelf connects the legs below.
With its whimsical dragon figures, delicate proportions, and elaborate ornamentation, this piece makes a wonderful accent table or display pedestal in a traditional or eclectic interior.
Top is 13 x 13
Glass piece is 8 x 8
