'Percival Keene' by Captain Marryat, is part of the late 19th Century, Scandinavian book series, "Kapt. Marryat's Skrifter." This is a classic nautical adventure about Cape. Marryat, an English Royal Navy officer, said to have developed Marryat's Code, the maritime flag signaling system. The 429-pg hardcover is written in Norwegian, Danish or Swedish. But the detailed gilt cover of a sailing ship, at sea, and the beautiful gilded spine, need no translation. The 135-year-old book is in very good, antique condition, with minor shelf wear to the edges, as expected. The interior is clean, bright, unmarked, unfoxed. The book was formerly housed in Faux Library Studio Props in Hollywood (small stamp inside back cover).. This is a book for nautical and Victoriana collectors - but also for those collecting and saving beautifully designed books from the past. They just don't make them like this anymore.
