Large Ceramic Wall Platter with Relief Decoration – Lion Attacking an Ostrich
This substantial glazed ceramic wall platter features a fully sculpted, high-relief decoration depicting a lion overpowering an ostrich in an exotic landscape of palm trees and lush vegetation.
The highly sculptural treatment of the decoration, combined with nuanced polychromy, gives this piece a remarkable sense of depth. The back is fitted with two brackets for wall display.
A decorative piece from the second half of the 20th century, of fine quality, reminiscent of certain French or Italian pieces intended for interior decoration.
