Hermann Tietz was a Jewish German merchant and co-found of Tietz, one of the first department stores in Germany. The stores would frequently have sale events called propagandatage ("propaganda days") similar to today's Black Friday or Boxing Day. By 1927, Tietz was the largest department store chain in Germany, employing some 13 000 employees.
Sadly, the business was seized by the Nazis in 1934 and transferred to non-Jewish owners, and the Tietz family emigrated from Germany. This poster was produced by German graphic artist G.H Heimig during the company's golden years.
The poster is in fair condition, with a tear on one corner. See photos for more details.
