Gorgeous 19th century Majolica pottery tobacco jar, attr. to Onnaing Mfg Co., France. Elephant and corn motif; vibrant, saturated colors, clear details. These tobacco jars were meant to hold a damp sponge in the lid to act as a humidor for the tobacco below in the jar. This is in perfect condition- no chips, cracks or anything. The elephants act as double handles, the ear of corn on the lid act as a handle too.
measures 6.5" tall, 5.5" wide, 5.25" deep.
