Simonet frères
A beautiful French 1925-1935 art deco chandelier in nickel plated solid brass or bronze holding nine shades in clear frosted pressed glass. The chandelier was produced by the famous company of Simonet frères. This model was named 'Les Cerises' (the cherries). We can see a variation with cordes instead of metal rods represented in an article issued in 1928 on Simonet frères. These cerises shades are never signed. Simonet started in the 19th century as producer of bronze gas lamps. In 1925 they changed their style into art deco. They asked the sculptor Henri Dieupart to design their glassware like vases and lamp shades.
The chandelier has a height of 25 inches (63,5 cm) and a diameter of 22,3 inches (56,7 cm). It is in very good condition. Some small chips where the glass panels slide in the metal mount. Invisible with the shades in place. The mount was re-nickeled some 15 years ago. I rewired the chandelier with American candelabra base sockets.
