The overall chest features an attractive red lacquered finish, beautifully complemented by classic everted flanges (upturned ends) on the tabletop, reminiscent of traditional temple altar tables. Also decorative cloud-form corner spandrels are attached beneath the top overhang and subtly used as bottom aprons. The chest offers excellent modern utility with one top drawer adorned with a butterfly-shaped bronze pull, and a lower cabinet space secured by two detachable door panels and a bronze slide-bolt latch. Inside, a removable wooden shelf provides flexible, multi-tier storage.
