Designed to hold burning incense, censer bowls have been used throughout China for thousands of years. Incense made from dried aromatic plants and essential oils would be burned within the home to cleanse interiors and honor ancestors during ritual prayer.
This vintage ceramic censer has a classic tripod shape, cloaked in a persimmon-orange glaze with a mottled finish. Today, the petite vessel brings color and texture to modern interiors as a small bowl or an unexpected planter for a single flower.
