An extraordinary Portuguese door from the early 19th century, fitted onto a custom wall-mounted cabinet for a unique storage option … Read more An extraordinary Portuguese door from the early 19th century, fitted onto a custom wall-mounted cabinet for a unique storage option across rooms and decorating styles. Below a stepped crown, cushioned paneling in four quadrants is accented with scrolled appliqués; the wood construction is revealed under weathered layers of the original paint in shades of blue from robin’s egg to slate. This color palette formed the inspiration for new cabinetry painted a rich brown on the exterior and a cheerful turquoise on the interior. Opening the door (by the original forged iron hardware) reveals a spacious interior fitted with two shelves to organize the contents, 9 ⅝” deep. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering the age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
