A wonderful French art deco hanging fixture in gild bronze with a large Gallé bowl in acid-engraved cameo glass. Model fleurs de Gentianes Rouges (purple gentian - Gentiana purpurea). It is signed Gallé. And was made between 1920 and 1931. The pendant light has a total height of 28,74 inches 73 cm and the glass bowl has a diameter of 17,54 inches 44,5 cm. The chandelier is in excellent condition. It is rewired with three American candelabra base sockets.

In 1877 Émile Gallé (1846-1904) took over the glass manufactory of his father Charles (86 boulevard Jean-Jaurès, Nancy France). The talented glass artist and furniture designer Émile was one of the founders of the École de Nancy. In 1904 his widow Henriëtte Grimm and his son in law Paul Pedrizet ran the company till it closed its doors in 1931.
