The body retains its original dark patinated finish with contrasting antiqued bronze-toned ornamentation. The applied decorative plaques are mechanically attached using original folded tabs, while the sculptural handles are secured with threaded fasteners, reflecting traditional period construction techniques.
The open bottom suggests the piece was designed as a decorative cachepot intended to surround an interior planter or vessel rather than hold soil directly. It also displays beautifully as a sculptural decorative object on its own.
Although stylistically reminiscent of Egyptian Revival decorative arts produced during the 1920s, including examples associated with the Karnak aesthetic, this example is unmarked and is therefore offered as Egyptian Revival Style, rather than attributed to a specific maker.
