It's hand constructed of carved wood and retains … Read more A most exceptional Tramp Art/Folk Art sewing box, circa early 20th Century. It's hand constructed of carved wood and retains its original hand painting. Olive green with dabs of antique-white craquelure, red, and cerulean blue, for the top pincushion fabric, make up the color hues on the exterior of this unique box. Opening it up you'll find a carved red heart with initials on it and marbleized wall paper to cover the interior walls; plus a chain to hold the cover. The box stands on bracketed feet, giving it an elevated stable base. The most prominent outside decor is its red scalloped or arched trefoil molding. They are also seen singularly on each of its sides. A great addition to any primitive, Folk Art, Tramp Art or general Americana collection.
