Fine Japanese painted 4-panel byobu (folding screen) by Ransetsu, a well-known artist in Kyoto. Very well done. Signed and sealed by the artist: Ransetsu (嵐雪). The title is "Cherry Blossoms and Golden Birds". Gouache, watercolor and ink on gold-leaf style foil plates over paper. Silk brocade border. Lacquered brown wood frame with beautifully engraved copper corners and plaques. Paper on back. Comes in a carboard storage case. Eight new black metal hooks for easy installation are included. Japan, Heisei Era, circa 2000-2010s. Excellent condition - no damage to the painting nor back, minimal age wear overall, strong hinges, clean, sturdy. This byobu was kept in Kyoto Art Center for preserving design patterns.
