A beautifully cohesive set of six early 19th-century Sowerby seaweed and marine algae prints, each hand-colored and presented in deep green archival mats. The group has a quiet naturalist quality, with delicate botanical forms, soft antique paper tone, and vivid green seaweed specimens that feel both scientific and decorative.
These work especially well for a collected coastal interior, English country room, naturalist’s library, garden room, powder room, or layered gallery wall. The dark green mats give the set a more finished and designer-friendly presence while keeping the antique paper character visible and central.
Each print is an original antique work on paper from a Sowerby natural history publication, not a modern reproduction. Offered as a set of six, matted and ready for framing.

Each antique seaweed print has been newly matted in a matching deep green archival mat, giving the group a unified naturalist look while preserving the quiet variation and character of the individual plates. The matting was prepared using archival technique, with acid-free materials and a reversible presentation method. No adhesive has been applied directly to the antique paper. The mats are clean, freshly cut, and intended to make the set ready for framing as a coordinated wall grouping. The antique prints themselves show gentle age-appropriate character, including warm paper tone, light handling wear, and minor scattered marks consistent with early works on paper. Some faint text or plate impression may be visible through the sheets in places, typical of antique book plates of this period. Overall, the set retains excellent decorative appeal, with delicate green forms, soft paper warmth, and a refined collected-gallery presence. less
