Seated side by side on gilt-trimmed cobalt cushions, this pair of English Staffordshire pottery cats brings genuine Victorian mantel charm into a room. Each wears a gilt bow collar and is finished with warm copper lustre patches over an ivory ground — hand-painted, with each cat's markings slightly different from its mate. Whimsical without being twee, this is the kind of pair collectors and decorators alike reach for, equally at home on a bookshelf or flanking a mantel.
Good antique condition, with the fine glaze crazing collectors expect from genuine period pottery.
