A charming and unusual antique wash basin barrel, made of pine with wrought iron bands, probably from Pennsylvania and dating to circa 1840s. The original two-part hinged lid is fully intact and functional, opening to reveal storage within the barrel form. Sturdy carved handles flank the top for easy moving.
At some point wooden feet were added, cleverly transforming this piece from a utilitarian washing vessel into a one-of-a-kind side table — offering genuine early American folk character along with useful hidden storage beneath the lid. A true conversation piece for an entryway, den, or rustic interior.
Dimensions: 22"W x 17"D x 24"H
