This attractive collection of nine polished stone specimen eggs is a wonderful display of nature's artistry, showcasing an impressive variety of richly colored and uniquely patterned ornamental stones. Each egg has been expertly hand-polished to a smooth, lustrous finish, allowing the distinctive mineral formations, dramatic veining, and vibrant natural colors to take center stage. Together, they create an eye-catching display that is equally at home in a traditional library, study, or cabinet of curiosities.
Several of the eggs still retain their original numbered specimen labels, an appealing reminder of their early history as part of a geological or educational collection. These numbers would have originally corresponded to an inventory or identification sheet listing the specific stone varieties and specimen details. Unfortunately, that reference sheet has been lost over time Based on their style and presentation, the eggs date to approximately 75–100 years ago.
Each solid stone egg measures approximately 2.5 inches high, 1.5 inches wide, and 1.5 inches deep, weighing about 170 grams. The clear acrylic stands measure 1.5 inches high by 1.25 inches wide and deep, bringing the overall display height of each specimen to approximately 4 inches. To enhance their presentation, each specimen is displayed on a modern clear acrylic stand that beautifully showcases the stones without distracting from their natural beauty. A small amount of removable museum-style tack has been added beneath each egg to provide additional stability while on display. The colorful assortment makes for a striking decorative arrangement while also appealing to collectors of natural history, lapidary arts, mineral specimens, and vintage scientific collections. Good vintage condition with light signs of wear and handling. Please review the photos for further condition assessment.
Beautifully preserved and wonderfully decorative, this impressive collection offers a timeless blend of natural beauty, craftsmanship, and vintage scientific charm.
