Wonderful vintage Chinoiserie or French Louis XV style ladies writing desk and chair both composed of black lacquered wood frames … Read more Wonderful vintage Chinoiserie or French Louis XV style ladies writing desk and chair both composed of black lacquered wood frames bearing a crackled distressed all over finish with hand painted gilded scenes and decorative details. The desk drawers have brass bail handles and the chair seat is upholstered in a tan chenille fabric. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, both pieces retain their original vintage finish so may show wear and age as you would expect with vintage furniture but there is nothing outstanding we have noticed. There are a few chips that have been touched up but only add to its distressed look. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. Desk and Chair… EXTRORDINAIRE!!!!! WOW!!! This is a GORGEOUS set including an exquisite ladies desk and a chair both bearing intricately hand painted gilded motifs, scenes, and details against a sultry black and gold distressed and crackled lacquered finish. The desk is framed with a spectacular serpentine style edge and face featuring three drawers… 2 on each side possessing the serpentine edge and a larger center drawer all three bearing beautiful brass bail pull hardware, elegant cabriole legs, and it is topped with a marvelous black and gold crackled faux leather work surface. It is STUNNING!!! And… if the desk alone doesn’t captivate every fiber of your being… How about this spectacular chair!!! The chair frame is also composed of the same distressed crackled black lacquered finish and it bears a hand carved, hand painted back bearing sculpted diamonds on each side of a decorative, carved concave square held by gilded orbs, a decorative low stretcher featuring fabulous floating gilded orbs or spheres, straight, turned front legs, and slightly flared back legs that extend up and create the sides of the back. AND, the seat is upholstered in a lovely tan chenille fabric. It is EXQUISITE!!! And paired together… they are BREATHTAKING!!!! They exude a magnificent Chinoiserie or French Louis XV style aesthetic but they also bear a bit of Italian flair as well… Oh… La LA!! This is exactly the desk and chair you need in your home office, study, or den but if you wanted, you could put a mirror above the desk on the wall and use it as a vanity set, OR if you insist… you could separate them and use the chair in ANY room as a side chair or extra seating and make the desk a console or accent table in your dining area, living room, or entry. Adorn it with a handsome sculpture or foliage and use the drawers to store linens, utensils, or other supplies. Versatility OVERLOAD!!!! This phenomenal desk and chair duo just won’t last. So, wherever or however you choose to use it… FIRST, you must choose to make it YOURS!!!!
