This two-seater sofa is an extraordinary and exclusive design masterpiece representing the absolute pinnacle of interwar functionalism and avant-garde Bauhaus style from the 1930s. Manufactured in Czechoslovakia, its design is based on the structurally flawless template of the iconic Fn 21 FAMOS armchair by Mücke-Melder, making it available for purchase either individually or alongside a matching pair of these chairs. In this sofa configuration, it is a very rarely seen and highly collectible item. The history of this timeless design is deeply rooted in European modernism—originally conceived as a cantilever concept by Marcel Breuer, its patent and production rights were legally secured for the market by Anton Lorenc. The sofa has undergone a comprehensive, uncompromising professional restoration. The tubular chrome-plated steel frame has been professionally cleaned and buffed to a brilliant mirror shine. The solid beech armrests have been refinished in a deep black piano lacquer and polished to a luxurious high gloss, creating a striking architectural contrast with the bright chrome. The entire body has been newly upholstered in premium genuine Italian leather in a sleek black tone. Delivering an unrepeatable combination of verified historical pedigree, ultra-premium materials, and supreme seating comfort, this sofa represents a premier investment opportunity that will effortlessly anchor any high-end modern, mid-century, or functionalist space. This item features classic Bauhaus design elements. Elements of this style are neutral colors and occasional bright primary colors. Bauhaus designers avoided the fussy and pretentious, looking for clean, modern lines. Perfect for a timeless yet modern look. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
