Søholm's celebrated Burgundia series is one of Danish mid-century stoneware's most recognizable collaborations, and this large footed centerpiece bowl is a striking example: a sculptural boat-shaped form designed by Holm Sørensen, decorated by Svend Aage Jensen with an incised sgraffito free-form pattern in soft blue, yellow, and white against the matte black glaze, set on a low pedestal foot.
Produced from the mid-1950s into the late 1960s, the Burgundia line remains one of the most sought-after Søholm series among collectors of Danish studio pottery.

- One small rim chip (approximately ¼"), visible mainly on the underside of the rim with slight visibility along the outer … moreOne small rim chip (approximately ¼"), visible mainly on the underside of the rim with slight visibility along the outer edge, has been professionally repaired; a second, smaller nick is nearby, also concentrated on the underside with minimal visibility on the edge. A glossier "splatter"-like sheen is visible across the interior under certain light — this appears consistent across other examples of the Burgundia line and is likely an inherent characteristic of the glazing/firing technique rather than a flaw specific to this piece.
