An elegant Empire period mahogany armchair, resting on four saber legs at the rear and tapered legs at the front ending in claw feet.

The armrests feature remarkable carved consoles in the form of sphinxes or winged Egyptian female heads, an emblematic motif of the Egyptian Revival style developed during the First Empire.

The curved seat rail is punctuated with decorative gilt-bronze discs.

The slightly reclined back is framed by scrolled uprights, and the whole piece maintains a beautiful harmony of proportions.

The upholstery is covered in a fabric with a neoclassical floral basket and plant motifs.

The gilt bronze mounts, the claw feet, and the armrest ornaments underscore the prestigious character of this chair.
