This armchair is one of the most celebrated icons of czechoslovak and international furniture history. This is the legendary model h-269, designed in the 1930s by the renowned visionary jindřich halabala for the up závody factories. The design masterfully bridges the dramatic flair of art deco with modern functionalism. The defining highlight of this chair is the spectacular, continuous ribbon of solid bent beech wood that forms both the armrests and the base support in a seamless, fluid curve. The presented piece has undergone a meticulous professional restoration. The chair features brand new traditional spring-based upholstery built according to period-accurate techniques, finished in a high-quality upholstery fabric with a subtle texture in an elegant light grey tone, beautifully accented with dark piping. This piece offers a bespoke customization opportunity: it is possible to change the upholstery fabric, as well as customize the color tone and surface finish of the wood to perfectly match the customer's specifications and interior style. As a certified interwar original, this h-269 armchair represents a premium collector's statement piece and a highly secure investment in design history, guaranteed to anchor any high-end mid-century, modern, or eclectic living space. Art deco is a style that originated from france in the early 20th century. Its furniture designs are meticulously crafted, usually using exotic woods.
