This cantilever armchair represents the absolute pinnacle of interwar world design and the avant-garde Bauhaus aesthetic from the 1930s. This revolutionary concept of a resilient, springy steel tube frame was created by none other than the legendary designer and architect Marcel Breuer. This particular piece was manufactured in Czechoslovakia by the world-famous Thonet company, a pioneer in the production of bent tubular steel furniture. The armchair has undergone a meticulous professional restoration that fully honors its historical value and authentic character. The cantilever frame made of tubular chrome-plated steel was professionally cleaned and buffed, restoring its original metallic luster while preserving a gentle period patina. The elegantly shaped armrests made of solid beech wood feature a revived original polish, highlighting the natural grain and warm tones of the wood. The seat and backrest are lined with a durable, authentic textile material in a sophisticated grey-beige tone. This iconic piece embodies purist elegance and timeless minimalism. As a highly sought-after collector's item, it represents a secure investment in design history and will effortlessly anchor any upscale modern, functionalist, or industrial space. According to the original process, our professional refurbishing team in Czechia has restored and reupholstered the item. The chrome parts have been cleaned and professionally restored. This item features classic Bauhaus design elements. Elements of this style are neutral colors and occasional bright primary colors. Bauhaus designers avoided the fussy and pretentious, looking for clean, modern lines. Perfect for a timeless yet modern look. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
