A striking mid-century modern statement piece, this large-format hand-blown Italian art glass compote was crafted in the historic glassmaking region of Empoli, Italy, circa the 1960s. Rendered in a stunning transparent olive green ("Vetro Verde") hue, the lidded candy dish features a grand, scalloped "circus tent" lid topped by a ribbed finial. The wide optic glass bowl rests elegantly on a dramatically twisted spiral pedestal stem and a flared circular foot. Standing an impressive 15 inches tall with a substantial 8-inch diameter, this is a highly collectible, oversized variant of classic Empoli design. It features the characteristic feather-light, delicate mouth-blown weight signature to genuine Italian vintage glass artistry. It makes an exceptional anchor piece for a bar cart, open shelving, or a dining room centerpiece table display.
Dimensions: 15" Height , 8" Diameter
Weight 1 lb. 14 oz.
Condition Notes: Very good vintage condition, presenting beautifully with brilliant color clarity throughout. There are no cracks, structural damage, or major chips. There is one minor, tiny flea bite on the outer rim of the base foot, which is difficult to see during normal display (please see the extreme close-up macro photo for detail). Features light, age-appropriate shelf wear on the underside of the base consistent with history and gentle handling.
