Here is a beautiful Fusion Art Glass plate full set of 9. The glass plates are decorated with 3 colorful Iris blooms with green foliage, yellow highlights, and clear background. The plates are translucent, each extraordinary piece shows off beautifully near light. The brilliant colors are fired at 1600 degrees F. between two layers of clear glass. Each piece has its own unique character of surface texture and bubbles. Fusion Art Glass is food-safe, microwave warming and dishwasher-safe, a truly functional piece of art. They are 10x 10 inches. It is signed Wm McGrath on the bottom edge. Also has a sticker label: Fusion Art Glass, 56031, Iris Sky, In Kogneto, Handmade in China. Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or stains, was originally purchased at Neiman Marcus, temporarily displayed, and then carefully stored.

History: Fused glass is made by taking 2 layers of clear glass and putting a design between them, then heating in a very hot kiln. The result is that the design is fused between the 2 layers. The bottom layer contains bubbles and has a crinkly texture, that feels smooth. The upper layer is crystal clear and smooth that is thick and heavy. William McGrath has been working with hot glass for more than 20 years and operates an enameling and fusing studio in Rochester, NY. His colorful fused glass bowls and platters are featured in many national and international galleries. Fusion Art Glass is a timeless treasure of beauty, art and function perfect for the home. All of their exquisite designs are made from an intricate process of stenciling layers of powdered enamel on a glass surface. After the designs are tediously created, another piece of glass is placed on top, and then kiln fired for upwards to 20 hours: fusing all of the glass and color together.
