This highly sculptural piece is distinguished by an extraordinary level of craftsmanship rarely encountered in architectural ironwork. The circular body is adorned with individually forged animal figures including a stag, ibex, monkey, and deer-like creature, each carefully shaped and engraved with remarkable attention to detail. Delicate floral motifs, decorative rosettes, twisted iron elements, and beautifully textured hammered surfaces continue throughout the entire composition. What makes this chandelier particularly special is the consistency of its execution. Even areas normally hidden from view, including interior rosettes, connections, and decorative fastening elements, were finished with the same care as the visible portions. The richly worked hammered surfaces create a lively interplay of light and shadow, demonstrating the hand of a highly accomplished artistic blacksmith. The central canopy and hanging floral elements are equally refined, showing a sculptural quality more often associated with fine metalwork than conventional lighting. Electrical condition: The chandelier was rewired at some point during its lifetime with respect for its historic character. The existing wiring remains in very good condition. The central light fitting is connected to the upper wiring by means of a terminal connection located within the upper section of the fixture. No grounding wire is present. As with all antique lighting, professional inspection and installation by a qualified electrician is recommended prior to use.
