Renowned National Geographic photographer Brian Skerry has captured some of the most iconic and groundbreaking images of critically endangered North Atlantic right whales and their Southern hemisphere cousins. Because North Atlantic right whales are so critically endangered, it is incredibly dangerous and often illegal to swim in the water with them for underwater photography. Skerry's most famous "right whale" portraits—where a diver is seen remarkably close to a massive, 70-ton whale—were captured while documenting the curious Southern right whale in the sub-Antarctic Auckland Islands of New Zealand. This photograph is from this series and has his signature on the lower right side, in pencil. It is encased in a silver frame with white matte. Good condition overall with minimal wear See less
