The oval buff colored form is encircled with clusters of grapes, leaves, and hanging game birds, while the domed lid is topped with a sculptural rabbit finial, evoking traditional English country house and hunting lodge décor and reflecting the Victorian fascination with country sporting scenes and abundant harvest motifs. Originally designed for serving game pies and savory dishes, this piece now makes a striking display object for a country house, hunting lodge, English pottery collection, or traditional kitchen décor.
