These bookends are modeled after the famous Lincoln Memorial designed by Daniel Chester French in Washington DC. Crafted around 1930 by the renowned Jennings Brothers Company of Bridgeport, CT, they feature the company’s signature superb casting and excellent bronze finish. Each bookend measures 7" tall, 4.25" deep, 4.75" wide, and weighs 5 lbs. 9.4 oz. (10 lbs. 2.8 oz. for the pair). They remain in very good original condition with minimal cosmetic marks and bear the JB mark along with model number 2440. I love everything about these bookends!
Jennings Brothers was among the leading makers of high-quality bookends and other art metal pieces from the late 1800s through the 1940s, celebrated for their exceptional detailing and finishes. Their work is highly collectible, in part because the delicate techniques they used could not be replicated by machines, requiring skilled artists and craftsmen. The superior quality of their finishing sets them apart from most other metal arts companies, making their pieces stand out even today.
