Made of wood, a great example of 19th century Japanese craftsmanship, ebonized black high gloss lacquered, with Samurai scenes painted in gilt gold paint on the lid. Additional scenes of boats, birds etc on sides. Condition is good, showing light age / use wear (please see photos). Size is 7.5" wide, 6.5" deep, and 3" tall. This is a classic decoration all great settings must have, a great jewelry box for lady's desk or chest, a fine display on any coffee table, in any traditional or vintage mid-century modern collection!
