This decorated antique gold aurene Art Nouveau fan vase is a beautiful piece of early 20th-century American art glass by Steuben and designed by Frederick Carder in the 1920s.
Identification & Details
Maker: Steuben Glass Works (Corning, New York)
Designer: Frederick Carder era (circa 1920s)
Style: Art Deco / Art Nouveau Fan Vase
Glass Type: Gold Aurene (an iridescent finish formulated by Frederick Carder to rival Tiffany's Favrile glass).
Decoration: It features an applied trailing wavy leaf/vine or abstract linear design across the upper portion of the fan.
Marking: The base is clearly incised "STEUBEN AURENE 6297". The number 6297 is the official Steuben shape/catalog design number for this specific fan-shaped flower vase. It also features a polished pontil mark in the center.
Condition & Authentication
Condition: Excellent antique condition. Displays phenomenal, rich iridescence with luminous pink and violet undertones under direct lighting. Completely free of chips, cracks, or fleabites. Minor, normal shelf wear on the bottom base consistent with a century of careful handling.
Signatures/Marks: Hand-engraved / incised signature on the base reading "Steuben Aurene 6297" surrounding a beautifully polished countersunk pontil.
