A magnificent plate by Meissen having a decorative graphics styled after the 18th century Japanese Kakiemon design of floral and so called 'yellow lion' (though it looks more like a tiger). This plate is ENTIRELY hand painted with wonderful vibrant colours and enriched with 24k gilding highlighting the tiger's eye and the scalloped outline of the plate.
Circa 1890s - 1919.
The crossed swords in underglaze blue has no double engraved lines over it, which indicates this item is ranked first, top, quality. Underscored numeral'82' is impressed into the porcelain under glaze.
