Mixed media (sanguine and pencil) on paper. Signed under the figure on the left. This is likely a study for a portrait. A central figure of the Lombard Scapigliatura movement, Conconi developed a refined and experimental language, taking the research of Cremona and Ranzoni to its extreme, later reworked in a Symbolist-Divisionist style. He created several portraits, in which the influence of Tranquillo Cremona is evident, while revealing his originality in genre paintings, landscapes, and fantastical and imaginative constructions, and in particular, he established himself as a skilled etcher. The drawing is presented in an early 20th-century Art Nouveau frame. The paper has slight water stains at the base. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
