He graduated in … Read more An eclectic personality, from a young age he devoted himself to architecture, painting, graphics, and set design.
He graduated in architecture from the Milan Polytechnic in 1920. In 1926, with editor Gianni Mazzocchi, he founded the magazine Domus, which he directed until his death. In 1931, he was appointed artistic director for Luigi Fontana, and in 1932, together with Pietro Chiesa, he founded FontanaArte. In 1952, he founded the Ponti-Fornaroli-Rosselli studio with architect Alberto Rosselli. This marked the beginning of a period of intense and fruitful activity in both architecture and design, abandoning frequent references to the neoclassical past and focusing on more innovative ideas.
Here we present the model 807 Distex armchair designed by Gio Ponti and produced by Cassina in 1954.
