Silver lidded box of rectangular shape, with straight sides and rounded corners and edges, standing on four flattened spherical feet; … Read more Silver lidded box of rectangular shape, with straight sides and rounded corners and edges, standing on four flattened spherical feet; a band of chiselled acanthus leaf scrolls runs around the lower edge of the box; a matching band also adorns the top of the hinged lid, and a decorative band runs around the sides of the lid as well, lock with a decorated shield-shaped plaque and key. Finest workmanship by the viennese silversmith christian sander. - branded by the wheel mark, austrian official hallmark for 13 lot silver, dating 1831 - master's mark: 'cs' in rectangle, for christian sander senior authorisation 1819, retirement 1859, died 1874, established family business, continued by his sons.
