Our distaff is richly carved and ornately painted. Special attention to color details and folk traditions. These are an important element of Eastern European folk art. A Slavic tool used by a weaver to hold the unspun fibers, keeping them untangled and thus easing the spinning process. Highly decorated and an elaborate possession. When the distaff was not in use, it was displayed as an ornament unto itself for the home.
